Richard III - Prop Fiberglass Helmet

A prop helmet used in the 1995 film “Richard III” starring: Ian McKellen, Annette Bening, Jim Broadbent, Robert Downey Jr & Nigel Hawthorne.

These prop helmets can clearly be seen throughout the film being worn by the Queen’s/King’s soldiers. In the film the British soldiers wear a cross between East German & British clothing seen during WW2, this was to give the look of a Fascist Britain.

The helmet is made from fibreglass and is based on the British MK 4 “Turtle” helmet used during the Cold War. It features the distinctive boars head decal on the front , and this decal was seen on all the soldier uniforms. These fibreglass variants typically would have been used for stunt work.
